Dr Elizabeth Guest
Director, CEO & Cognitive Diversity Specialist
I have spent most of my life being told that what I want to achieve is impossible.
I have also spent most of my life achieving the so-called impossible.
But that’s just part of the story. The truth is, things that most people find straightforward, like catching a train or going shopping, are near impossible for me.
I am autistic.
After graduating in 1989 with a 1st class Honours degree in Maths, I completed my PhD in Artificial Intelligence. My PhD project was state of the art for at least 20 years.
I am a natural polymath* and have a university level teaching qualification.
As a senior researcher, I gained many years of experience, working on a variety of highly complex projects such as designing technology to detect whether somebody is carrying weapons in the street.
I have developed the Integrative Cognitive Profiling Framework by studying many different first hand accounts of autism - including how different underlying issues affect other issues. This has impacted the lives of many people for the better.
Then I discovered that I had described the cognitive diversity of the whole of humanity!
Now I want to analyse and solve your problems.
Business Development Consultant
My role for Aspiedent CIC is as the first point of contact for anyone looking to access our services.
My connection with Aspiedent happened at a chance encounter whilst attending a networking event in Leeds. I have worked in the commercial side of the veterinary industry for many years and witnessed significant issues around recruitment and retention, mental health, and suicide. It was clear to me that nobody was really addressing the significant presence of people with autism and/or ADHD within the veterinary community and I felt compelled to work with Aspiedent.
Through working with Aspiedent and Elizabeth Guest I have come to learn and realise a great deal about the world and how people exist within it. Whenever I introduce people to Elizabeth I am reminded how lucky I am to have access to her mind and the ideas she produces from it.
I firmly believe that through improving peoples understanding of autism, especially those in influential and leadership positions, we can actually make the world a better place for everyone, whether you have autism, ADHD, Dyspraxia or related condition or not, and this can be achieved through adopting an adjustable mindset.
Through developing my understanding of Autism and ADHD I have come to realise I may have ADHD myself and am currently embarking on the diagnostic pathway.
